Cellulite

Cottage cheese or orange peel thighs… nobody likes the dimpled, irregular, untoned appearance of cellulite. Cellulite is a nonmedical term to describe superficial fatty deposits pressed up against or constricted by the bands of connective tissue that run from the muscle fascia through this fat and reconnect to the undermost area of the skin. Cellulite can look even worse when fat cells enlarge with weight gain and bulge out of the network of connective tissue. Cellulite may worsen from the formation of scar tissue after liposuction or it may develop in patients who never had cellulite before. However, excess deep layer fat and having had liposuction need not be an issue for cellulite to appear-many skinny people have it too.

What can be done about it?

While no single procedure can help everyone, a few procedures are available that may help some people-and one procedure looks promising to eradicate cellulite forever. A combination of treatments is often the best strategy to gain the best control over the dimples and prevent recurrence.

Wellness is a general recommendation, but it is the first approach that everyone should try to adopt to combat this condition. Everybody should be able to eat whatever their heart desires as long as they can match it with an equal exercise regimen. However, you should analyze your diet for irregularities or excesses. You should first and foremost strive for a Balanced Nutrition diet. Then try to reduce your portion sizes. Last, you should reduce or eliminate excess of unhealthy food habits, such as dolce de leche, ice cream, or chocolate. No one should completely eliminate these indulgences, but strive to keep them at a minimum especially in the early phase of Weight Loss plan.

Can surgery help?

A new cellulite treatment that is gaining popularity is an old surgical technique modified with more-powerful instruments. This method, known as Subcision Surgery, releases the fibrous bands under the skin without any incisions. Although not always necessary, Autologous Fat can be performed after the release of the fibrous bands to help fill the dimple and prevent it from recurring.

Weight loss surgery, on the other hand, can result in massive amounts of excess skin that will require other skin tightening procedures such as Abdominoplasty, Thigh Lift, and Body Lift.
