The Eyes

It is often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Warm, soulful brown. Cool, sophisticated blue. Rare, exotic green. Sultry bedroom eyes. Wide, innocent eyes. Asian almond eyes. Whose eyes make you melt?

If you think you look tired or strained, or you difficulty applying eye make-up because of excess loose skin, a rejuvenating eye procedure may be necessary.

Am I deflating?

With age the skin looses some elasticity causing it to more easily reveal wrinkles and imperfections. You may notice the fat pads under your eyes begin to be more prominent or the upper lids skin becomes loose and begins to show signs of aging. The traditional approach for someone with these symptoms is to perform an upper and lower Blepharoplasty.  Sometimes the brows have sagged and a Browlift may be indicated. However, that philosophy assumes that all sagging is occurring in a vertical direction-and that is not always true. Tissue volume loss directly underneath these structures causes them to, in essence, deflate. Your cosmetic surgeon must try to restore the lost volume before performing any other rejuvenating procedures. Small volumes of tissue can be restored nonsurgically with a tissue filler such as Restylane®.

Autologous fat transfer for eye rejuvenation can restore the contour of the brow by elevating it and filling the tear-trough area just below the lower eyelids, thereby eliminating the unattractive separation that occurs between the cheek and eyelids. The lower eyelid fat pad will also appear exposed and herniated whenever the surrounding bony socket is too shallow. You will often not notice this when you are younger due to the thickness of you soft tissue. With age and volume loss, these imperfections are revealed. During your initial consultation, your surgeon will determine whether you are better suited for a Malar Augmentation which will provide you with exact enhancement wherever it is needed.

What is the latest?

Modern midface rejuvenating procedures have emerged that directly address the soft tissue mound of the cheek. These procedures have evolved from the ability of surgeons to performing endoscopic procedures with minimal incisions. The Midface Lift also known as a cheek lift is a procedure that will raise the sagging cheek soft tissue. An endoscopic midface lift will imbricate the cheek in such a way that it will elevate and increase the forward projection of the cheek just below the infra-orbital fat pad. This maneuver will dramatically enhance the entire midface complex and rejuvenate the eyes and lessens the need for a lower eyelid surgery.

Is there anything less invasive?

The Contour Thread Lift provides an alternative to the midface lift. The contour thread lift is one of the new and cutting-edge noninvasive surgical techniques intended to lift sagging skin with minimal intervention. Because the cheek is a curved mound of tissue, the surface tension on the skin elevation achieved with contour threads alone will flatten the cheek. Therefore, combining contour thread lift of the cheek and the midface structures with a midface lift is often more effective. The midface lift is a technique that imbricates the cheek fat and muscle thereby restoring and rejuvenating the cheek mound.

Rejuvenate then restore the skin

The attention to the Details of the Skin is just as important as the procedures that will rejuvenate what is underneath. Obagi Skin Restoration System and Microdermabrasion will restore the skin to a vibrant and healthy appearance.
