Wrinkles

All wrinkles are caused by loss of collagen as a result of aging, sun exposure, smoking, or facial movements; however, wrinkles are not all alike. The wrinkles we see in the texture of the skin at rest are called static wrinkles, whereas wrinkles that seem to appear with muscle movement are called dynamic wrinkles. It is important to note this distinction as their treatment can be significantly varied. Although the treatment is different, you will often notice some improvement to dynamic wrinkles when treating static wrinkles and vice versa.

Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles occur in people of all ages, even children. Sometimes called wrinkles in motion, dynamic wrinkles appear when a muscle contracts and causes the skin to form a crease; therefore, dynamic wrinkles are seen only when you smile or raise your eyebrow. Botox® will relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles.

New and innovative techniques with Botox® are being evaluated all the time. Botox® can be used to:

Prevent crow’s feet: Botox® will relax the squinting muscles and will prevent unwanted facial creases
Uplift the corner’s of the mouth: Botox® can reduce the downward pull on the corner of the mouth to create a natural neutral position for the corner of the mouth
Flatten forehead furrows: Prevent the lines and creases that are tracking across your forehead
Relax neck bands: Overly tight neck muscles can cause neck bands to form; Botox® can relax these muscles and the neck can look smooth and youthful again
Raise brows: By injecting Botox® into the muscles that pull the brow downward, your brow will get a natural nonsurgical lift
Relax frown lines: Stop frowning with a simple injection of Botox® into the frown muscles
Sweaty palms: Botox® is capable of shutting off excess sweating from your palms
Keep armpits dry: Approved in 2004 for hyperhidrosis, Botox® can completely stop the production of perspiration
Chin boost: Injecting Botox® into the tiny muscles on the chin (mentalis muscles) can enhance the appearance of your chin

Static Wrinkles

Static wrinkles tend to develop in skin that has thinned as a result of natural aging. In order to best treat static wrinkles, a distinction is made between different types. Fine skin lines that are diffuse and cover a wide area will respond well to superficial Skin Rejuvenation. Diffuse moderate static wrinkles may require more aggressive skin rejuvenation with an Esthetic Laser. Simple moderate static wrinkles respond well to fillers, such as Restylane® and Fat Transfer. Certain deep and resistant wrinkles, such as horizontal forehead wrinkles, Nasolabial Folds, and smile lines, can be first treated with Subcision, a new scar-free procedure that eliminates these wrinkles, and then filled with your favorite filler.

These are some of the many places that these fillers and techniques can be used:

Plump Up Thin Lips
Fill Frown Lines
Smooth Under-Eye Tear Trough
Soften Facial Creases
Soften Naso-Labial Folds
Eliminate Marionette Lines
